During their June 23 meeting, the North Richland Hills City Council called for a November 4, 2025 special election to amend the City Charter. Voters will decide whether or not to:

•   Extend terms of office from two years to three years for the Mayor and Council positions.

•   Establish term limits, allowing individuals to serve a maximum of three terms as Mayor and three terms as a Council member.

•   Require any sitting Mayor or Council member to automatically resign if they become a candidate for another paid public office.

•   Remove the requirement for the municipal court judge’s term to align with the Mayor’s term, allowing greater flexibility in appointments.

•   Align the terms of Planning and Zoning Commission members with those of the Mayor and Council.

•   Update competitive bidding language in the charter to reflect recent changes in state law.
