Colleyville’s youngest residents are getting the chance to experience what it’s like to lead their city through the annual Mayor for a Day Contest. The program, hosted by Mayor Bobby Lindamood, invites students in grades 1 through 5 who live in Colleyville to share their big ideas for improving their community.
To enter, students must submit a 1–2 page essay answering one simple but inspiring question: If you were the Mayor of Colleyville, what would you do to make the city the best in North Texas?
The winner will be named Honorary Mayor for a Day and take part in a hands-on city experience in January 2026. The selected student will spend part of the day meeting city leaders, touring facilities such as the Colleyville Justice Center and Fire Department, and learning how local government serves residents. That evening, the honorary mayor will join Mayor Lindamood at a City Council work session and meeting, co-presiding over city business alongside officials.
Essays are due by Monday, November 17, and the winner will be announced in December 2025.
The Mayor for a Day Contest has become a local favorite, inspiring students to think creatively about civic engagement while offering a fun, behind-the-scenes look at how city government works.
