Construction on Brown Trail is moving forward. As of this week, the new water lines are fully installed and connected to the water system. Crews are now focused on completing the upgraded sewer lines in the same area, which should be completed by the end of this month.
Once Brown Trail work wraps up, crews will move on to water line improvements along Bedford Road, from Brown Trail to Norwood Drive. This work is anticipated to take 3-4 months to complete, weather permitting. Improvements along both roadways are associated with the Airport Fwy Water and Wastewater project. For updates on the progress (as well as a project completion percentage tool that is frequently updated), you can visit the City’s Construction Projects webpage.
Some residents have asked about the project’s progress, especially when crews weren’t visible at the site. During that time, work was still happening behind the scenes—specifically, connecting and testing the water lines. Unfortunately, this required keeping lane restrictions in place. While it may be frustrating to see the same traffic pattern even when crews aren’t present, it helps keep motorists safe. Maintaining a consistent flow reduces confusion and lowers the risk of crashes.
The good news? Once this phase is complete along Brown Trail, no additional work will take place along this roadway until it’s time to repave Brown Trail —giving residents and drivers a break from the construction.
The first step toward the Brown Trail repaving project is the engineering work, which is in the initial steps and is estimated to be complete toward the end of this year. At this time, City staff estimates shovels will go in the dirt for constructing a new concrete road is first quarter 2026.
