With the rise of e-bike use across town, we want to remind our community of our city ordinance regarding bike usage, especially on our trail system.

  • The max speed limit on the trail system = 12 mph; this speed limit is for safe shared use for all pedestrians and cyclists.
  • If the bike doesn’t have pedals to function as a bicycle, then it is not an e-bike; it’s a motorcycle.
  • If they’re not an e-bike, they fall under the same regulations as vehicles and cannot be on the sidewalk, bike paths, or bike lanes. They also must be registered, have required lights and equipment, and be driven by a licensed driver.
  • All three e-bike classes (1, 2, 3) can legally be ridden in the same manner as a bicycle in the State of Texas, but a class 3 e-bike operator must be at least 15 years old.

As always, watch for cars and pedestrians, and wear a helmet!
