As excitement builds for the opening of the new H-E-B Mid Cities on Wednesday, May 20, residents should expect significantly heavier-than-normal traffic in the Cheek-Sparger Road area throughout next week, especially during the first several days of operation.
The City of Bedford is working closely with the City of Euless, TxDOT, and H-E-B officials to help traffic move as efficiently and safely as possible. Traffic signals have already been adjusted, and multiple off-duty police officers will be assisting with traffic control and parking lot management during the grand opening period.
Drivers should expect delays near:
- Cheek-Sparger Road
- Rio Grande Boulevard
- Heritage Avenue
- The H-E-B entrances and surrounding shopping areas
If you do not need to travel in that area next week, we strongly encourage you to consider alternate routes or avoid the corridor altogether, particularly during peak shopping times.
Please be patient, allow extra travel time, watch for pedestrians, and follow all traffic direction from officers and traffic control personnel as everyone adjusts to the new traffic patterns.
