Tarrant County College marked 30 years of TCC Southeast with a ribbon cutting for a $193 million project adding new space and renovating the Arlington campus.

Tarrant County College celebrated the 30th anniversary of TCC Southeast with a ribbon cutting for a $193 million campus transformation in Arlington.

The Southeast Renovation and Expansion Project adds 100,000 square feet of new space and includes renovations to 234,000 square feet. Funded through TCC’s voter-approved 2019 bond program, the project adds two buildings and repurposes much of the campus to support current and future students.

Students, employees, elected officials and community members attended the milestone celebration. TCC Southeast serves Arlington, Mansfield and Southeast Tarrant County, with current enrollment approaching 10,000.

The campus opened in 1996 with space designed for 5,000 students and has since served more than a quarter-million Trailblazers. TCC Southeast President Andy Bowne said the project was designed around the full student journey, from initial interest in TCC through completion and future plans.

“We listen to the heartbeat of our neighbors. We grow alongside them,” TCC Chancellor Elva LeBlanc said. “Yes, we’re cutting a ribbon on extraordinary new and modernized spaces. But this transformation is about what happens inside those spaces and the people who make it happen.”

TCC Board President Jeannie Deakyne said the project fulfills a promise connected to the 2019 bond program and reflects the trust voters placed in the college. Arlington Mayor Jim Ross, a TCC alumnus, highlighted the college’s role in preparing the workforce supporting the city’s businesses and continued growth.

Mansfield Mayor Michael Evans said the Southeast Campus remains important to Mansfield students, noting that Mansfield Independent School District students have led enrollment among area districts in TCC’s dual credit program.

The celebration also included student representatives Leslie Zacarias and Katelyn Quenichet, along with education, business and workforce development leaders.

Tarrant County College serves nearly 100,000 students each year through its campuses and TCC Connect, its fully online learning option.
