The Watauga Flyers have been flying their indoor model airplanes as a club for over 25 years. There are two distinct groups.
The Free Flyers build their own stick-and-tissue, rubber band-powered model airplanes. These small models are very challenging to build and fly well. The club members strive to improve their building and flying skills as a lifetime hobby. They have also hosted many major indoor model meets, and new flight endurance records have been made there.
The second group is the Remote-Controlled Flyers, who fly various small, electric-powered aircraft, including fixed-wing aircraft, quadcopters, and helicopters.
The Flyers meet every Wednesday from 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM.
The Flyers are taking a break this Summer; they will resume in the second week of August.
