Phase 3 of Southlake’s West Continental Boulevard Intersection Improvements Project is expected to begin in October at South Peytonville Avenue. The roadway will remain open during construction.

Construction on the West Continental Boulevard Intersection Improvements Project is moving into its third phase, with work expected to begin in October at South Peytonville Avenue and West Continental Boulevard.

The $15.3 million project is designed to improve traffic flow, safety and drainage along West Continental Boulevard between Davis Boulevard and South Peytonville Avenue. Phase 3 will include construction of a new single-lane roundabout, utility relocations and drainage improvements near Carroll Elementary School.

West Continental Boulevard is expected to reopen to normal traffic on Sept. 25 as Phase 2 nears completion. That phase has included roadway construction and drainage improvements east of Davis Boulevard, along with a dedicated right-turn lane from Davis Boulevard to West Continental Boulevard and two dedicated left-turn lanes from West Continental Boulevard to Davis Boulevard.

During Phase 3, the roadway will remain open. Drivers are encouraged to use caution and allow extra time when traveling through the construction area, particularly during school drop-off and pickup times. The phase is expected to be completed in spring 2028.

The project is divided into four phases to help minimize disruptions. Phase 1, which focused on Union Church Road west of Davis Boulevard, included drainage work, roadway reconstruction and dedicated left- and right-turn lanes. That phase was completed, and the road reopened in March.

After Phase 3, the final stage will repave West Continental Boulevard between the limits of Phases 2 and 3. Phase 4 is expected to be completed in summer 2028.

“We’ve been able to work ahead where possible to keep the project moving and limit the impact construction has on drivers as we move through the remaining phases of the project,” said Pritam Deshmukh, the city’s director of Public Works.

The completed improvements are expected to create safer, more efficient intersections, reduce traffic backups and improve drainage along the corridor.
