Colleyville Heritage High School senior Rohail Parveez earned a perfect score of 36 on the ACT after taking the exam for a second time in September.
Parveez first took the ACT in July without preparing and scored a 35. After coming within one point of a perfect score, he decided to take the exam again.
Before his September test, Parveez reviewed grammar, punctuation, geometry and calculator functions while also studying for the SAT. When he received an email on his way to school notifying him that his ACT results were available, he found a perfect score waiting.
“It was a beautiful 36 waiting at the top for me,” Parveez said.
He also scored 1560 on the SAT, finishing 40 points short of a perfect score. Parveez said he will probably take the November SAT as he continues balancing testing with his involvement in speech and debate.
Parveez credits years of challenging coursework in Grapevine-Colleyville ISD with helping him prepare. He said his advanced classes explore subjects beyond those covered on college admissions exams. He also credited his teachers with supporting his accelerated math studies, strengthening his English and reading skills, and building his understanding of chemistry and physics.
He specifically highlighted his four years in speech and debate with teacher Wil Mathison, calling the team “the backbone” of his academic culture and growth as a learner.
Looking toward college, Parveez plans to major in physics, with a particular interest in quantum physics. He hopes to attend Rice University or Yale University.
Parveez also expressed gratitude to his friends, teachers and family for their support.
