Vance Road Closure
Starting at 7 a.m. on Thursday, April 24, the contractor for the Glenview Drive East reconstruction project will be closing down the northern half of the Vance Road / Glenview Drive intersection. This will allow the old pavement to be removed and new subgrade and pavement to be constructed. The closure is anticipated to last for about 3 weeks, weather dependent.
In addition to the Vance closure, Morgan Circle and Cummings Drive remain closed at Glenview for paving. Ingress/egress options for this northern neighborhood are on Mackey Drive and Daley Avenue. Detour signs will be placed throughout the area to alert motorists.
The closure of Vance at Glenview was previously planned to begin April 14, but was delayed due to unanticipated issues in the field. We appreciate your patience and understanding.

South Crest Drive & Crystal Lane (Posted April 17)
The reconstruction of South Crest Drive is underway. The contractor has removed the old asphalt pavement and is working on stabilizing the subgrade. Following the subgrade work, they will then place new asphalt pavement on the roadway. This project, which is dependent on good weather, is expected to be completed by April 30.
Residents on South Crest Drive will have access during construction; however, there will be brief periods when your driveway will be inaccessible. This will only be while fresh asphalt is being poured and compacted in front of your driveway making it temporarily inaccessible.
The contractor has also been working on Crystal Lane, with paving on Crystal expected to take place next week. Both street reconstruction projects are part of the 2020 Street Bond Program.

Colorado Boulevard Closure (Posted April 10)
Starting Monday, April 14, Colorado Boulevard will be closed between Bob Drive and Standley Street for a drainage construction project. This project will take about 90 days to complete. Motorists should plan an alternate route.
WORK ZONE SAFETY REMINDERS
With construction on several city streets and the Loop 820 project underway for the foreseeable future, it’s important to keep work zone safety in mind. Work zones present a different and sometimes challenging environment for drivers to navigate. Motorists may encounter uneven pavement, narrow lanes, concrete barriers, slow-moving heavy equipment, and vehicles that make sudden stops. TxDOT’s “Be Safe. Drive Smart.” campaign offers five tips for safely driving through work zones:
- Slow down. Follow the posted work zone speed limit and proactively adjust your driving to match road conditions.
- Pay attention. Avoid distractions, keep your mind on the road and put your phone away.
- Don’t tailgate. Give yourself room to stop in a hurry, should you need to. Rear-end collisions are the most common kind of work zone crashes.
- Watch out for road crews. Roadside workers want to get home safely too. Always follow instructions and be mindful of construction area road signs.
- Allow extra time. Road construction can slow things down. Count on it and plan for it.
