The City of North Richland Hills recently celebrated the opening of a new Bicycle Playground and Pump Track at Fossil Creek Park, located at 6101 Onyx Drive South. These exciting additions provide a fun, safe environment for riders of all ages to build biking skills, boost confidence, and enjoy the outdoors.
What are a Bicycle Playground and a Pump Track?
A bicycle playground is just like it sounds—a playground designed for kids on bikes. It features fun elements like ladder bridges, rollers, and tunnels, all specifically designed to help young riders develop confidence and bike-handling skills in a safe setting.
A pump track is a circuit of rollers and banked turns that allows riders to move through the track without pedaling, using an up-and-down “pumping” motion to generate momentum and speed.
Please note, the bike facilities are closed for maintenance every Thursday from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m.
In addition to the new bike amenities, Fossil Creek Park offers approximately five miles of mountain bike trails suited for beginner and intermediate riders. The trails provide a great opportunity for skill-building and outdoor recreation for all ages. Helmets are required when using the bike facilities and trails.
NRH Parks & Recreation extends its thanks to the City Council, Parks and Recreation Board, and the Fort Worth Mountain Bikers’ Association (FWMBA) for their support and partnership in making these improvements possible. These new features further enhance North Richland Hills’ commitment to providing high-quality parks and recreational opportunities for the community.
