Residents and business owners in Bedford are invited to take part in Bedford University, the City’s annual citizens academy designed to provide an inside look at local government operations and services. The interactive 10-week program allows participants to learn directly from City staff while sharing feedback and priorities that help shape the community.
Bedford University will begin on Thursday, February 5, and will meet every Thursday evening from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m., concluding with a graduation ceremony in April. Each session will spotlight a different City department, offering participants insight into how services are delivered and how departments collaborate to serve residents and businesses.
Weekly sessions will feature presentations and discussions with representatives from Police, Fire, Communications, Public Works, Parks and Recreation, the Library, Development Services, and additional City departments. The program is designed to foster transparency, strengthen community engagement, and build meaningful connections between residents and City leadership.
Registration for Bedford University is first-come, first-served and will open at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, January 12. Applications will close once all available spots have been filled.
Those interested in participating are encouraged to apply promptly when registration opens. Additional details and the online application will be available through the City’s website.
