In what could easily be considered a neutral site venue, the Diablos ventured far outside the friendly confines of TWU Pioneer Soccer Park in search of anywhere dry enough to get in their weather delayed match from Thursday May 28th against Brownsville FC. On a humid and cloudy Sunday afternoon, the Diablos wasted little time setting the tone for the match. In just the 3′ minute of play, Ian McGill’s free kick service found Thato Meko who redirected the Brownsville clearance into the path of Brian Miralrio who took it from there burying the far post side netting dagger for the 1-0 lead. Both teams would see multiple chances turned back from excellent goal keeping and sturdy framework. In the 79th minute Brownsville FC went a man down after losing their captain #10 to a second yellow, and an early exit with the red card. The Diablos thwarted off the final desperate attempts from Brownsville, before the referee blew his whistle for full time, the Diablos collected their much deserved three points, Ian McGill collected the first clean sheet of the season, and the Diablos rose to the top of the LoneStar Conference standings with a undefeated 3-0-1 record. The Diablos head south to CF10 in Houston on Thursday June 6th for their second away game of the season before returning to the friendly confines of TWU Pioneer Soccer Park on June 15th as they host the other team from Deep South Texas, the Laredo Heat.
