Our very own superintendent, Dr. Joe Harrington, has been named Superintendent of the Year by the American Heart Association. In their announcement, AHA says, “Dr. Harrington is setting the bar high,” referencing his districtwide support for “Kids Heart Challenge,” AED access, hands-only CPR training, and similar lifesaving knowledge and skills. As a result, HEB ISD has become the largest district in Texas to implement a comprehensive and sustainable Cardiac Emergency Response Plan (CERP) in collaboration with the American Heart Association. Dr. Joe’s positive impact even extends outside of HEB ISD, as he encourages other superintendents to lead “District of Lifesavers” efforts across the state.
