Five Star Subaru Grapevine partnered with Operation Kindness this weekend to host a pet adoption event at its showroom. Subaru covered adoption fees for all pets, making it easier for local families to adopt and welcome new companions into their homes. Attendees also enjoyed fun giveaways and had the opportunity to meet a variety of adoptable animals in need of loving families.
Five Star Subaru Grapevine also distributed a $4,000 grant through the ASPCA® (The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals®) to Operation Kindness, helping to fund its crucial work in caring for animals across Texas.
“At Five Star Subaru Grapevine, we believe every pet deserves a safe, loving home, and every family deserves the joy pets bring,” said Tony Hooman, General Manager of Five Star Subaru Grapevine. “The Subaru Loves Pets® initiative allows us to live that out here in Grapevine, and we’re proud of our longstanding partnership with Operation Kindness to support the animals and people who make our community so special.”
The effort is part of Subaru Loves Pets®, a nationwide initiative in which the automaker and more than 630 Subaru retailers are contributing over $3.1 million this October to animal shelters and welfare organizations. These grants*, administered by the ASPCA®, help cover adoption preparation, veterinary care, and outreach programs connecting pets with families.
The event comes days before National Make A Dog’s Day—a holiday created by Subaru—that celebrates all dogs, especially those often overlooked in shelters. Older dogs and those with special needs, affectionately called “Underdogs,” are among the most vulnerable shelter pets. According to the ASPCA, an estimated 5.8 million animals entered shelters in the U.S. in 2024. By hosting this pet adoption event, Five Star Subaru Grapevine and Operation Kindness are working to address that need directly, giving local “Underdogs” a better chance at the healthy, happy lives they deserve.
“We’re deeply grateful for Five Star Subaru Grapevine’s continued support through the Subaru Loves Pets® initiative,” said Meredith Jones, Chief of Staff at Operation Kindness. “This ongoing partnership allows us to fulfill our mission of giving every pet the chance to find a loving home while connecting with so many families in our community.”
Five Star Subaru Grapevine and Operation Kindness County have partnered for 7 years, and the retailer regularly partners with other pet shelters in the area including the Humane Society of North Texas, Canine Companions, and more.
Since 2008, Subaru has donated more than $70 million to support the rescue, transportation, and adoption of over 700,000 pets nationwide. This year, Subaru will also donate $20 to the ASPCA for every purchase of select Genuine Subaru Pet-Friendly Accessories from participating retailers during October, up to $10,000.**
