Keller ISD is thrilled to honor Hidden Lakes Elementary School Pre-Kindergarten teacher Kristen O’Quinn with the first-ever Keller ISD Star Educator Award for the 2024-25 school year.

O’Quinn was presented with the Keller ISD Star Educator Award at the September 24 Board Meeting. She was nominated by HLES Counselor Lindi Lambert for the many ways she provides a foundation of innovative learning through hands-on experiences, while creating a positive classroom community “where everyone’s contribution is valuable.”
O’Quinn will also receive a $500 grant, courtesy of the M.R. and Evelyn Hudson Foundation, to use in her classroom.
The Keller ISD Star Educator Award is a brand new district-wide teacher recognition, replacing the Innovative Teachers Inspiring Students (or, IT’S) Award, which, for over a decade, recognized some of KISD’s most inspirational teachers for their efforts in actively engaging students through innovative learning techniques.
In continuing with the tradition of recognizing excellence, this new initiative will highlight amazing educators in this district who demonstrate exceptional teaching skills and positively impact their classrooms by:
- Seeking active student engagement
- Communicating with enthusiasm
- Supporting individual growth
- Offering innovative instructional techniques
- Promoting a strong classroom community
- Leading with heart
