Northwest ISD Honors Excellence at Annual Staff Convocation
Northwest ISD celebrated the start of the 2024–2025 school year with its annual staff Convocation, where the district recognized outstanding educators and employees for their dedication and service.
Rookie of the Year
Congratulations to Erika Arneson of Clara Love Elementary, named the 2024–2025 NISD Rookie of the Year. This award, presented annually by the Northwest Retired School Employees Association (NRSEA), honors a teacher with just one year of classroom experience who exemplifies the NISD Profile of an Educator and demonstrates exemplary teaching throughout the year. As part of the recognition, Arneson received a $200 award from NRSEA.
Dr. David Hicks Excellence in Education Awards
The Dr. David Hicks Excellence in Education Award honors the late superintendent’s legacy by celebrating employees who go above and beyond to make Northwest ISD a great place to work and learn. This year’s recipients were:
- Tray Baez, Byron Nelson High School
- Maria Zuniga, Steele Early College High School
- Amy Swearingen, Sendera Ranch Elementary
- Richard Kleckner, Chisholm Trail Middle School
Each winner was nominated and selected by peers for their exceptional contributions, positive impact, and commitment to the district’s mission.
