CapMetro is honoring Rail Safety Week by sharing tips to help you be safe around train tracks.
Did you know every 3 hours a person or vehicle is hit by a train in the United States? The good news is you can help prevent these tragedies from happening with some simple tips. Staying aware, sticking to authorized crossings and following instructions on public transportation helps keep all our fellow passengers away from dangerous situations.
- With double tracking, you should expect a train on any track in either direction. We urge you to look both ways before you cross the tracks at a designated crossing.
- Follow all signs and instructions
- Cross tracks only at designated pedestrian or roadway crossings
- Never stop on tracks when crossing them
