The City of Hurst is now accepting applications for the Hurst 101 Citizens Academy, a unique opportunity for residents and business owners to gain a behind-the-scenes look at how their city operates.
Designed to be both fun and educational, Hurst 101 introduces participants to a wide range of city functions, including the budget process, emergency services, city operations, and government procedures. The program also provides valuable opportunities for one-on-one interaction with City Council members and department leaders.
Classes are held on Thursday evenings throughout the spring, featuring presentations from city staff, tours of key facilities, and engaging discussions about community priorities. Participants will leave the program with a deeper understanding of the inner workings of city government and a stronger connection to their community.
Those interested in joining the 2026 program are encouraged to apply soon. Applications will be reviewed and participants selected this fall. Space is limited, so early applications are recommended.
Whether you’re a longtime resident or a new business owner in Hurst, Hurst 101 is an excellent way to become more engaged, informed, and active in shaping the city’s future.
