The City of Hurst has once again turned everyday infrastructure into eye-catching landmarks with the launch of Phase Three of the Utility Box Art Project. Approved this spring by the Hurst City Council and the Library & Cultural Enrichment Board, the project continues to bring vibrancy and creativity to the city’s streets while celebrating the local community.
This phase showcases the work of twelve talented artists, each interpreting the theme “Pets and Wildlife of Hurst.” Their designs transform plain utility boxes into colorful canvases featuring beloved animals, both domestic and wild, that hold a special place in the hearts of residents.
With these new additions, a total of 40 art-wrapped utility boxes now brighten corners across north and south Hurst. Each design not only adds beauty but also reflects the city’s character, celebrating Hurst’s connection to nature, creativity, and community pride.
The Utility Box Art Project has become more than a beautification effort—it’s an ongoing movement to make Hurst streetscapes vibrant, inviting, and unique. Whether you’re commuting, running errands, or simply exploring, you’re likely to come across one of these miniature public art galleries.
Residents and visitors are encouraged to explore the map of utility box locations and discover each work of art for themselves. These installations highlight Hurst’s commitment to supporting local artists, enriching community spaces, and adding joy to everyday experiences.
So next time you’re driving or walking through Hurst, take a moment to enjoy the Wild & Wonderful art that makes the city shine a little brighter.
